tcpdump Multiple Denial of Service Vulnerabilities

   
LinuxVade79 has reported some vulnerabilities in tcpdump, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

1) An error in the "isis_print()" function can be exploited to cause tcpdump to enter an infinite loop and stop responding via a specially crafted GRE packet.

This vulnerability has been reported in versions 3.8.x and 3.9.1. Other versions may also be affected.

2) An error can be exploited to cause tcpdump to enter an infinite loop and stop responding via a specially crafted BGP packet.

This vulnerability has been reported in versions 3.8.x.

3) An error in the "ldp_print()" function can be exploited to cause tcpdump to enter an infinite loop and stop responding via a specially crafted LDP packet.

This vulnerability has been reported in versions 3.8.x.

4) An error in the "rsvp_print()" function can be exploited to cause tcpdump to enter an infinite loop and stop responding via a specially crafted RSVP packet.

This vulnerability has been reported in versions 3.8.x and 3.9.1. Other versions may also be affected.

SOFTWARE:
tcpdump 3.x

SOLUTION:
The vulnerabilities have reportedly been fixed in CVS-current.
